Mike Jacobson named Community Impact Volunteer of the Year

Leading by Example

On October 10th 2019, the North Platte Area Chamber and Development held their Annual Meeting and Social. This year North Platte area businesses and community leaders were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the areas of Entrepreneurs of the Year, New Business of the Year, Business of the Year, Business CEO of the Year and Community Impact Volunteer of the Year.  We are proud that Mike Jacobson, President and CEO of NebraskaLand National Bank received the Community Impact Volunteer of the Year award.

Mike’s dedication and service to the community has a continuous impact on the team that he leads. This award is a testament to the way that Mike leads by example at NLNB.  It’s no coincidence that you can find NLNB team members serving on local boards, community organizations, or volunteering at their churches, schools and at the wide variety of volunteer opportunities NLNB provides, from the numerous grill events, hosting marathon aid stations to our NebraskaLand University Financial Scholarship Program. It is no secret that we are Community Minded.

We would like to share the words that Gary Person, President and CEO of the North Platte Area Chamber and Development wrote about Mike and the Community Impact Volunteer of the Year award.

“Our community is blessed to have hundreds of dedicated volunteers that make a lot of great things happen in North Platte.  Some community leaders take it to a whole new level.  When you look back at the last several years, it’s hard to find anyone who has more of a community impact through their volunteer efforts than Mike Jacobson.   This honor is about  appreciation for many years of his leadership as chairman of the City of North Platte’s Community Redevelopment Authority; chairman / board member of the Airport Authority when it secured the very successful Sky West Airlines / United Express airline as well as the many scheduled improvements being done at the Airport; his role as a board member on the Great Plains Health board of directors; his bank’s involvement in numerous community and statewide activities and sponsorships; he is chairman of the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee and the list goes on and on.   His impact was again illustrated with the recent designation to NebraskaLand National Bank by the American Banker Association as the Best Bank to work for in Nebraska.

Above all, as President and CEO of the NebraskaLand National Bank and NebraskaLand Financial Services, Mike’s encouragement to his employees about the importance of community engagement and volunteerism sets a tremendous example as a business leader in North Platte / Lincoln County and brings along a whole new generation of volunteers.   We thank you for your selfless service”
