Evonne Keck: Volunteering with Passion and a Sprinkle of Playful Spirit
Evonne Keck, Public Relations and Media Manager, has been a part of the NebraskaLand Bank family for eight years. More than just her professional role, she is a devoted mother to two wonderful and quite spirited daughters. She balances her life between nurturing her family and instilling values of kindness and community service. She strives to have a laughter-filled home, "I think I’m funny," she laughs, "but my daughters never hesitate to remind me that I’m not."
A Heartfelt Connection to North Platte
Evonne's story is a testament to the power of community. Born and raised in south-central Nebraska, she found a home in North Platte through her husband's roots. Evonne's commitment extends beyond her role at NebraskaLand Bank. She currently serves as the board President of the North Platte Area Children’s Museum, a center dedicated to serving the needs of children, families, and schools through learning and discovery.
Her involvement began when she was planning her move to North Platte. Her mother-in-law introduced her to the museum, and it was love at first sight. She knew immediately that her young daughter would adore it. Becoming members of the museum was just the beginning. Through countless visits, playdates, and birthday parties, the museum became a cherished place for her family.
When Evonne’s oldest daughter was nine, she joined the board. “I wanted to volunteer with my family to instill the value of community service in my children." Evonne explains. Her involvement has been nothing short of transformational, not just for the museum and her family but also for her own growth as a leader and volunteer.
A Passionate Volunteer Journey
Evonne's volunteer work at the museum includes leading the executive committee, supporting staff, and contributing to various committees, including fundraising and exhibits. Working alongside a remarkable team, she's always ready to help wherever needed.
One of the most rewarding aspects of her volunteer work is seeing her children involved with the museum. "Volunteering with my kids has been so fulfilling." Evonne shares. Watching other families enjoy the exhibits they have helped create brings her immense joy. The stories from individuals who visited the museum as children and now bring their own kids are particularly heartwarming.
The Impact of Giving Back
While Evonne's term on the board is coming to an end, her commitment to the museum remains unwavering. She is a phone call away, ready to support the museum in any way she can. Her advice to aspiring volunteers is simple yet impactful—"Do it!" The friendships and memories she has made are invaluable and volunteering, as a family has fostered a shared sense of giving back.
Evonne Keck exemplifies what it means to exceed expectations and make a difference in our community. She is hopeful that her contributions have positively influenced the lives of children in North Platte. She credits collaborating with the talented staff and volunteers for enriching her life and strengthening her leadership skills. Her volunteer work is a reminder that community service benefits both the community and the individual.
If you're interested in joining Evonne and many others in making a positive impact, consider volunteering with the North Platte Area Children’s Museum or another local organization. She emphasizes, “Together, we can build a better community for all families.”

For Chantel, it's not about the applause but the deeper, lasting connections she's forged with her neighbors through the arts.
The Spark of Inspiration
Once just a wide-eyed spectator, Chantel is now one of the vibrant stars lighting up the North Platte Community Playhouse. Chantel's journey with the Playhouse began as a child when a field trip to see a performance sparked her love for the arts.
