Over the past few months, criminals have developed a new set of fraud schemes in an attempt to profit off the pandemic crisis. We want to share some of the specific tactics we have seen to help you spot the signs of pandemic-related fraud. At NebraskaLand Bank, we take protecting your personal information very seriously. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly interrupted many aspects of daily life. It seems like every month we are faced with a new challenge to overcome, not only in our personal lives but also as a community. Recently, signs have been appearing at business around the country requesting electronic payment or the use of exact change for purchases. This has sparked several questions about what is happening regarding the coin supply.

It’s that time again for NLB’s annual “Race to a Million”.  For the next 90 days NLB teams of three will be lacing up their walking shoes and putting their best feet forward and race to be the first team to reach one million steps.  The first team to reach a million steps will win bragging rights, and a total of $750 for the team to donate to the nonprofit of their choice.  That $250 for each team member!

As we are entering a stage in the pandemic where we, and other businesses are beginning to open doors “normal” looks a bit different. We strive to ensure that we reference regulations and guidelines that are in place for what matters most, our people and our community. As a way to safeguard, we are offering face coverings for our employees, implemented Plexiglas coverings, and social distance markers throughout our facility.

Every year NebraskaLand Bank teams up with the American Bankers Association in a joint effort to Teach Children to Save.  In years past, NLB volunteers would collaborate with Madison Middle School in North Platte as well as Buffalo Hills Elementary School in Kearney to take over a classroom and teach the students in person.  This year, with classrooms across the nation moving to the kitchen table, we are bringing Teach Children to Save into your home as well.  We want to provide you with tools and fun activities that will break the ice and start a conversation with your kids about money

At NebraskaLand Bank, one of our culture statements is “Comm(unity) Minded”.  This part of our culture is so ingrained in every one of us, that we can’t help but approach everything with a community minded point of view, even a pandemic.
